McMillan Pazdan Smith is an award-winning architecture, interior design, and advisory services firm with eight studios located in the southeast. We are currently seeking a Project Architect to join our K12 practice unit (s).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completed and comprehensive plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction
  • The application of sound and diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields
  • The ability to act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities
  • Utilization of advanced techniques and modify/extend theories, precepts, and practices
  • Work directly with client and/or user group to develop schematic design concepts and programming studies, assist with project budget management, write project specifications as assigned
  • · Observe architectural features of structures in the field
  • Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects to junior staff
  • Conduct code research and analysis and review with various agencies for approval
  • Collaborate with engineers, consultants, contractors and/or clients
  • Produce work involving a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and respond to RFIs
  • Produce construction documents, revisions, and addenda
  • Provide leadership to a team of junior level architects and design professionals

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent
  • Registered as a licensed architect
  • Ability to provide business development for firm within practice expertise area.
  • 8-12 years combined experience as an intern architect and/or architect.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, and Revit.
  • Firm grasp of building technology fundamentals.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant codes, operations, processes, and trends.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Revu.
  • Relevant certifications indicating additional expertise for construction administration, interior design, LEED/Green Globes/sustainability, etc.
