The position of General Superintendent is an integral part of the General Construction Team and is responsible for keeping production levels up on their projects while maintaining project schedule and deadlines as stipulated by the executed contract. This person will work closely with the assigned project team to establish the direction of each project, manage and coordinate the subcontractor’s performance, and ensure a safety and quality project is delivered on time and within budget.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Reviews project plans and details for any potential safety risks and constructability issues
- Consults with Safety Consultant for issues outside expertise
- Perform safety audits of all job sites at least monthly
- Perform monthly audits of quality control plan and compliance by Superintendents
- Review Superintendents efficiency at project sites
- Review safety plan created by Project Manager and Superintendent
- Resolve warranty issues with original project team
- Performs accident or near miss Investigation
- Monitors Superintendents work loads
- Assists in evaluations of the performance of Superintendents
- Interviews Superintendents with Human Resources
- Responsible for resolving any Superintendent issues
- Coordinates training for Superintendents
- Makes disciplinary recommendations related to safety
- Oversight of all active jobs (safety, efficiency, scheduling, logistics and quality)
- Enforce policy and procedures
- Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office applications and estimating software
- Familiarity with construction project management software is a plus, but not required
- Advanced knowledge of construction means and methods
- Knowledge and experience leading and mentoring superintendents
- Provide direction and help solve problems
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Maintains OSHA 500 and 510
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that align with core values
- 5+ Years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar field preferred
