Job OverviewJennings Mechanical is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects across South Carolina. This role is responsible for driving safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work in the field.
The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site leader and works closely with Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, inspectors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to Jennings Mechanical standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise all on-site mechanical construction activities
Manage mechanical foremen, apprentices, helpers, and subcontractors
Plan daily work activities and maintain short-term look‑ahead schedules
Ensure work is performed per drawings, specifications, codes, and scope of work
Enforce Jennings Mechanical, OSHA, and site‑specific safety requirements
Coordinate work with general contractors, other trades, and inspectors
Monitor labor productivity and communicate progress to Project Management
Anticipate manpower, material, and equipment needs
Assist with change orders, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and field documentation
8+ years of experience in commercial and/or industrial mechanical construction
Proven experience supervising mechanical field crews
Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, sheet metal, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and jobsite safety practices
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Journeyman or Master license in HVAC, plumbing, or pipe fitting (as applicable)
OSHA 30 certification
Experience on large commercial or industrial projects
Experience working in South Carolina or the Southeast
Familiarity with BIM coordination and digital construction tools
