SummaryThe Superintendent manages daily site activities for Foundations projects by ensuring construction follows safety, design, budget, and schedule. The Superintendent directly manages personnel and craft on each project site.
Responsibilities- Daily contact with job site crews to ensure schedule and workforce needs are met.
- Schedule subcontractors to complete work and monitor subcontractors to ensure work is complete per agreement.
- Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and taking corrective action.
- Ensure employees have up-to-date safety information and conduct daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings and weekly Tool Box topics.
- Complete daily record keeping including daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and timecards.
- Manage field personnel in a fair and equitable manner in accordance with policies and compliance with local and federal laws.
- Address staff performance issues as they occur.
- Participate in pre‑construction meetings and regular job site meetings throughout project lifecycle.
- Provide timely and accurate documentation for safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
- Ensure all work follows specified quality standards and inspect field work for quality compliance.
- Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
- Support training opportunities for staff.
- Keep supervisor informed of known actions that may affect performance.
- Five years of experience overseeing a crew responsible for installation of deep foundation systems (caissons, substation concrete, helical piles).
- 5+ years of experience with foundation/ground improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, cranes).
- Ability to oversee multiple jobs simultaneously while maintaining strong safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
- OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and legal documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) with employees, clients, and other associates.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions) in field quantity situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Must be able to work 8 to 12‑hour days, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed, and travel heavily within the country.
- Must be over age 18.
The Superintendent (Foundations) directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site.
Other- Must pass a pre‑employment drug test.
- Must maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
- Heavy travel within the country is required.
Manual work requiring extensive physical exertion; lift up to 50 pounds; sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear in adverse weather conditions.
Work EnvironmentConstruction site environment with exposure to machinery, loud noises, variable weather, and terrain. Requires safe performance of duties. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical examination.
