Job SummaryThe Associate Category Manager supports the Category Manager in driving growth and profitability of a specific product category. They analyze market data, implement strategies, and manage relationships with suppliers to optimize the product mix and ensure customer satisfaction. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer behavior to identify opportunities and challenges within the assigned category as well as areas for product expansion and optimization.
- Support the development and execution of category strategies aligned with overall business goals.
- Monitor and analyze category performance, including sales, profitability, and inventory turnover.
- Support the development and management of the product assortment to meet customer needs and strategic goals.
- Assist with product selection, pricing, and promotional activities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure product launches and promotional campaigns are successful.
- Support the Category Manager in managing relationships with key suppliers.
- Participate in supplier negotiations and contract management.
- Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Communicate category performance and strategies to stakeholders, including Category Managers, senior management, and other relevant teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, and operations, to ensure alignment and execution of category plans.
- Provide recommendations and insights to Category Managers based on data analysis and market research.
- Adhere to the Company’s established policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience in category management, retail, or a related field is often preferred.
- Experience with MS Office Suite, and intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge preferred.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to remain stationary.
Must be able to travel up to 20%.
