Job SummaryPurchases a high volume and variety of materials, supplies and services; evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers; negotiates price, delivery, quality and service; follows up on all awards until completion; settles claims; conducts supplier site visits and rates them on production capability, performance and delivery.
Responsibilities and Tasks- Manage subcontracts and provide direction/guidance for the Purchasing Department.
- Assist buyers in determining priorities for materials and services in support of U.S. Government and commercial customers.
- Create Requests for Proposals (RFP) in support of programs in response to customer requirements.
- Represent the company in negotiations.
- Place calls or releases against subcontracts and track performance against prime contracts.
- Review system for receipt of units, place the order, enter the purchase order (PO), print a hardcopy, and ensure acknowledgements.
- Support programs and operations with prices, sources, and turnaround time as needed to further and increase the business base.
- Perform all duties of a buyer as needed to support the company.
- Maintain all documentation to support subcontracts and current status on units being repaired at subcontracts.
- Understand the Federal Acquisition Regulation System (FARS) and differentiate it from commercial acquisitions.
- Have knowledge of electronic commerce.
- Understand the standards of conduct expected—procurement integrity, ethics, and improper business practices.
- Qualify suppliers and conduct market research.
- Master simplified acquisition procedures.
- Put together a solicitation using the Uniform Contract Format.
- Analyze cost and pricing data submitted.
- Know the different types of contracts and when to use them.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of experience.
- Associate’s Degree with 4+ years of experience.
- Most locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.
