Overview
Senior Buyer (CONT-):
Bowhead seeks a Sr. Buyer to support our Purchasing Department. This position requires an individual who has knowledge of procurement functions, maintains strong working relationships and communications with key suppliers, confirms shipping schedules, and monitors open purchase orders. The role supports obtaining materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency of need.
The buyer interviews vendors and recommends sources of supply, analyzes quotations received to select or recommend suppliers.
Telework will be considered for all candidates. Reporting to a Bowhead office is also available.
Responsibilities- Knowledge of Materials (Purchasing & Inventory) in a purchasing environment.
- Sourcing Vendors
- Coordinate with shipping companies (e.g., Fed Ex, UPS, moving companies).
- Negotiate supplier terms & conditions, including price.
- Prepare Request for Quote (RFQ).
- Understand quality deficiency reports, non-cancel/non-return orders, and request for variance.
- Compile information and records to prepare purchase orders.
- Verify specifications of purchase requests.
- Expedite orders.
- Evaluate bids and select suppliers.
- Maintain SharePoint site.
- Coordinate collection and preparation of reports.
- Compile data.
- Review and answer correspondence.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
- Five or more years (5+) of professional experience working with government contract procurement, purchasing, and/or buying.
- Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint.
- Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Department of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR).
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.
There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, U.S. citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
