Overview
The Controller will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including sales tax oversight, accounts receivable, invoicing, and financial reporting. This role requires expertise in Quick Books Online, , and Shopify
, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership on cashflow and P&L management.
This is a full-time, in-office position (Monday–Friday).
Key Responsibilities- Manage multi-state sales tax filings and compliance
- Maintain accurate nexus records and ensure timely payments
- Reconcile sales tax liabilities and resolve discrepancies
- Oversee customer invoicing through and internal systems
- Monitor outstanding A/R and follow up on past-due accounts
- Maintain accurate customer financial records
- Assist in preparing monthly P&L statements
, balance sheets, and cashflow reports - Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide financial insights to leadership for decision-making
- Manage daily accounting entries and reconciliations in Quick Books Online (QBO)
- Reconcile bank, credit card, merchant, and sales platform accounts
- Coordinate with operations to ensure accurate COGS, inventory, and order data
- Support year-end reporting, audits, and tax preparation
- Maintain integrations between Shopify, QBO, and other platforms
- Identify and implement process improvements for accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure accounting procedures align with GAAP standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5+ years of professional accounting experience (e-commerce experience a plus)
- Proficiency with:
- Quick Books Online
- Shopify
- Strong understanding of sales tax compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and analytical skills
