The Role
The FSW/Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of retail goods to various locations across the United States. This position combines the responsibilities of a skilled driver with those of a frontline service worker, requiring a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting merchandise securely while maintaining accurate delivery records and adhering to all traffic and company regulations.
Additionally, this role involves interacting professionally with customers and team members to support smooth retail operations and enhance customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the FSW/Driver contributes to the overall success of the retail supply chain by ensuring products reach their destinations promptly and in excellent condition.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or appropriate driver's license as required by state regulations.
- Proven experience in driving and delivering goods in a retail or logistics environment.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance basics.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
- Experience with route planning and navigation technologies such as GPS systems.
- Previous experience in retail trade or supply chain logistics.
- Certification in defensive driving or safety training programs.
- Basic mechanical skills for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or delivery tracking systems.
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver retail products to designated locations within scheduled time frames.
- Load and unload merchandise carefully, ensuring items are handled properly to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs, receipts, and reports, to track shipments and confirm deliveries.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly to management.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with clients and addressing any delivery‑related concerns.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local driving laws and company policies to ensure safety and compliance.
- Assist with inventory management and stock organization as needed to support retail operations.
The required skills enable the FSW/Driver to operate vehicles safely and efficiently while managing the physical demands of loading and unloading merchandise. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and team members, ensuring clear and professional exchanges that support positive service experiences. Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations is applied daily to maintain compliance and prevent accidents.
