Job Description Summary

Employee responsible for sampling asphalt product to ensure the product meets required tests.

• Partner and coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel and crew members, as well as Department of Transportation inspectors to obtain necessary samples and mix designs.
• Ensure clear understanding of asphalt procedures/production.
• Adhere to safety and ethical standards as required by the company and OSHA guidelines.
• Prepare and submit proper documentation to the appropriate Quality Control personnel.
• Evaluate test results and address problems when they arise.
• Maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
• Be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, and time of shift changes. Overtime work and out-of-town work may be required.
• Initiate and assist with other positions for job completion as needed.
• Adhere to PPE policy and maintain PPE in functional condition.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs as required.
• Pass drug test and criminal background check.
• Maintain VA Asphalt Lab Certifications Level 1 and 2;
  Level 3 preferred.

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

  Experience:
  
  High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred, but not Required.
• VDOT Asphalt Plant Technician certification required; other state certifications as required.
