Overview
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the operation of assigned production work centers/facilities in order to meet customer and business demands while maintaining regulatory compliance and following company standards and requirements. In addition to meeting manufacturing schedules, line responsibilities include development, direction and guidance to production supervisors, production engineers and plant operators. To lead and promote safety, environmental awareness, quality, cost savings, and compliance with all regulatory programs.
Provide inter and intra departmental technical assistance facilitating company growth.
The Production Superintendent will work closely with all departments to ensure timely shipment of quality products, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Responsibilities- Ensuring assigned production areas meet or exceed all safety and quality requirements
- Scheduling operations and maintenance activities in a manner that prevents delays and efficiently utilizes manpower
- Ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures in all operations and activities
- Work closely with the product supervisors to ensure employees are properly trained and evaluate their performance
- Exercising proper care in the utilization of buildings, equipment and services
- Identify and implement process improvements that positively impact items such as yield, throughput, waste, labor, raw materials, product quality and cycle time
- Investigate operational issues and work with support groups to resolve and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Work with Process Engineering and Chemical Development during the implementation of new products in the manufacturing area
- Participate in process or capital project evaluations as assigned
- Coach production supervisors and their subordinates on company policies and procedures. Conduct training pertaining to the employee’s and company needs. Provide guidance to increase the employees understanding and knowledge of the plant operation. Identify and promote activities which enhance the work environment.
- Four or more years of chemical processing/manufacturing experience with prior supervisory experience preferred
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Ability to conduct employee training, conduct presentations, actively participate in regulatory and customer audits
- Strong leadership skills
- Financial knowledge relevant to manufacturing
- Strong computer knowledge in Windows based software - Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
- Ability to obtain DEA clearance for drug manufacture
- Respirator use required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required, MBA or MS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering highly beneficial
