Quality Control Operations – Inspections, Welding, and NDT
- The Quality Control Manager oversees all inspection, measurement, welding inspection, and nondestructive testing (NDT) activities. This includes direct leadership of the Inspection Department, the Welding Inspection function, and the Magnetic Particle (MT) laboratory. The role ensures compliance with ISO 9001:2015, customer technical data packages (TDPs), QAPs, internal procedures, and contractual requirements. This position is focused on Quality Control execution—managing inspectors, weld inspectors, and NDT/MT personnel—ensuring accurate product verification, proper documentation, and effective communication with Production.
Control Operations – Additional Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all QC personnel performing dimensional inspection, welding inspection, and NDT/MT testing, ensuring consistent application of measurement methods, GD&T interpretation, and acceptance criteria.
- Oversee daily QC workflow planning, priority setting, and throughput management across incoming, in-process, welding, MT, and final inspection activities.
- Ensure weld inspection activities comply with applicable standards (e.g., AWS D1.1) and that all weld inspection records, defect documentation, and welder qualification verifications are accurate and complete.
- Oversee Magnetic Particle (MT) operations, ensuring technicians follow approved procedures, maintain proper process controls (UV intensity, chemical concentration, equipment functionality), and document results accurately.
- Maintain training, certification, and competency requirements for inspectors, weld inspectors, and MT Level I/II personnel, ensuring qualification records remain current.
- Ensure all inspection-related equipment—including dimensional gages, weld inspection tools, MT equipment, and measurement instruments—remains calibrated, traceable, and compliant with QMS requirements.
- Review and validate inspection, weld, and MT results; escalate discrepancies; and ensure accurate documentation feeds into NCR/MRB processes when nonconformances are identified.
- Oversee calibration of all gages, MT equipment measurement tools, weld inspection instruments, and other measurement devices.
- Ensure calibration traceability, record accuracy, and systematic scheduling across QC assets.
- Lead Measurement System Analysis (MSA) in collaboration with Engineering, including Gage R&R, for equipment used within Inspection, Welding Inspection, and NDT/MT.
