Overview

Five Education is looking for a teacher to lead a special class in a mainstream primary school in Ilminster. The role starts as soon as possible. All students in the class have an EHCP with a range of identified SEMH needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering materials to a small class, ensuring outcomes are met and tailoring activities to meet the individual needs of the children.

The approach will be therapeutic and nurturing, guided by the students’ interests and the National Curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver the curriculum for a small class of children with SEND/SEMH needs.
  • Deliver outcomes in a therapeutic and nurturing environment, tailoring activities to each child’s needs.
  • Work with a specialised team of support staff and multi‑professionals to ensure pupils’ needs are fulfilled and strategies are put into place.
  • Lead a team of experienced support staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified teacher with QTS.
  • Significant experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEND) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Relevant references and DBS/police checks, if required.
  • If you do not have a Non‑Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

Pay

Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer’s NI. Please note the pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to undergo reference checks, TRA checks, and will need to have a DBS; there will also be an interview.
