Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit

This position serves as part of the Life Safety/Electronics‑Specialty Shop team, ensuring the smooth operation of critical safety and monitoring systems across campus. The role involves both preventive maintenance and hands‑on installations or modifications to essential systems that support the safety, security, and functionality of the university.

Job Summary
  • Pay Rate: $28.00/hour
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (100% on site)
  • Location: UNC Chapel Hill
Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance inspections on life safety systems, fire detection and suppression systems, security systems, CCTV, equipment monitoring systems, and other electronic subsystems.
  • Install, maintain, and modify fire detection and suppression systems, life safety equipment, card access systems, CCTV, and equipment monitoring tools.
  • Respond to repair requests and troubleshoot issues with various electronic components to ensure systems operate at peak performance.
  • Coordinate with other teams and vendors to guarantee timely inspections and installations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or completion of GED.
  • Experience working with fire alarm systems (preferred).
