Field/Service Technician
The Electrical Field Technician performs advanced electrical testing, diagnostics, and inspections across medium and low voltage utility scale power systems.
This role requires approximately 75% travel, strong electrical fundamentals, and the ability to learn advanced testing and aerial diagnostics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform medium voltage and low voltage electrical tests: insulation resistance, continuity, hi‑potential testing, current path testing, transformer and cable substation testing and inspections.
- Conduct photovoltaic electrical testing and troubleshooting.
- Execute fiber optic testing and termination.
- Operate unmanned aerial systems and platforms for thermal and visual inspections.
- Capture infrared imaging for electrical and PV system anomaly detection.
- Maintain compliance with FAA Part 107 and Strata UAS standards.
- Uphold Strata safety standards including NFPA 70E and LOTO.
- Complete detailed test reports and mission logs.
- Assist/complete installation of electrical equipment.
- Foundational understanding of electrical theory.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience in electrical equipment testing and installation.
- Ability to travel ~75%.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with medium and low voltage electrical test equipment.
- Photovoltaic testing experience.
- Fiber optic cable installation and testing experience.
- FAA Part 107 Certificate (or ability to obtain).
- IR Thermography Level I, NETA or equivalent certification.
- Lift 50 lbs; outdoor work; kneel/stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work on call and travel frequently.
Tools and PPE provided except safety toe boots. Role offers growth into advanced testing, UAS operations, and renewable energy infrastructure and technical services.
