Facility Maint Tech – Mech Trade – Journey

Full‑Time Permanent, 40 hrs per week.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (or four days per week, 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.)

Pay: $47,263 – $63,438 (Hiring Range). Sign‑On Bonus: $4,668 paid in two installments ($2,334 within 30 days of hire and $2,334 twelve months after hire).

Responsibilities
  • Perform plumbing repairs, installation, and preventive maintenance per applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist with area coverage to ensure that work orders, maintenance repairs, and preventive maintenance requests are completed.
  • Communicate status updates and problems to supervisor or lead mechanic.
  • Work in areas occupied by students, ensuring resident privacy and respect for personal property.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work).
  • Experience in plumbing, with working knowledge of commercial plumbing maintenance and repair methods, practices, tools, and materials.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one before start date).
  • Cross‑connect certification (or ability to obtain one within first six months of employment).
  • Ability to plan, problem‑solve, and work safely; strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand extended periods, navigate stairs and ladders, work in small tight spaces, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability for evening, night, on‑call, overtime, weekend work as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive experience in industrial and commercial plumbing.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing campus facilities plumbing.
