Position Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the Flick laboratory within the UNC Blood Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Individuals with experience in either cancer biology or coagulation/thrombosis and interest in interdisciplinary work to drive understanding in this exciting frontier are encouraged to apply. Anticipated work will include cell and molecular biology, mouse tumor and thrombosis models, and translational assays in clinical coagulation.

Cancer biology and blood biology are inseparably linked. Cancer increases the risk of bleeding and inappropriate blood clots (thrombosis), both of which decrease quality and quantity of life. Ironically, recent success in cancer therapies has increased the incidence of clotting complications in patients with cancer. At the same time, we are becoming increasingly aware of the central contributions of blood and vascular cell clotting activity in cancer pathogenesis.
