UNC Medical Center is hiring New Grad Nurses to join our Acute Medicine Team on 3 West!
3 West Acute Care currently supports patients with Nephrology and Cardiology Unit Specialties. Starting June 2026, the unit will comprise of Nephrology and General Medicine patients.
Anticipated
Start Date:
March/April
Current diagnoses include:
- End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
- Post Renal or Heart Transplant
- Chest Pain
- Pre and Post Cardiac Catheter
- Pacemaker/ AICD placement
- Autoimmune/Connective Tissue Disorders
About the Unit:
- Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:5
- 25 bed unit
Schedule Expectations:
- Day/night and weekend rotation
- Flexible Self-Scheduling
- 36 hrs/wk
It is expected that candidates will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their first day of employment.

In order to qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program, candidates must be currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have recently graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. This is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses.
The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.

Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
