Description:
Nursing Assistant I + Clerical (Clinical Support Tech I) for Cardiovascular Acute Care on a 12-bed unit focused on patient care and outcomes. The unit serves vascular, cardiothoracic surgeries, heart failure and cardiology with an interdisciplinary team approach. The Clinical Support Tech I is a dual role of Health Unit Coordinator and Nursing Assistant I.
Employment type:
36 hours per week on 12-hour rotating shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with weekend and holiday rotation. Includes an extensive benefit package with PTO hours accrued based on hours worked. Part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 teammates.
- Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
- Critically reviews patient care documentation, notes significant changes in patient condition, and reports immediately to a registered nurse or physician.
- Performs a variety of clerical tasks: organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information for nurses/physicians, reviewing and revising orders, answering calls, transcribing orders, and maintaining medical records. Performs routine QA audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies. Provides administrative/clerical support including PI audits and data entry.
- Provides clinical support: cleaning work area, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting common software/hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, restocking supplies, transporting patients/equipment/specimens, and assisting in orientation of new employees and students.
- Provides direct personal care per the plan of care: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation assistance; measures vital signs, height/weight; may include specimen collection, skin prep/scrub, catheter care, glucose checks, simple wound care, ROM exercises, and postural drainage.
- Reinforces routine teaching to patients and documents understanding; distributes patient education materials as requested.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service;
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Professional Experience Requirements: Prior experience not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be fluent in verbal and written English; ability to develop computer skills if not proficient.
