Overview

THRIVE is a multidisciplinary clinic consisting of a team deeply committed to meeting the needs of veterans and first responders. This position provides the opportunity to collaborate with internal and sports medicine, athletic training, audiology, speech therapy, neuropsychology, psychiatry, psychology, art therapy, and nutrition.

The THRIVE Program will be a community-based clinical outreach program designed to provide care to Veterans and First Responders experiencing effects of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) or post-traumatic stress (PTS) resulting from a career serving our nation. The three-phase program will
1) evaluate and diagnose physical, cognitive, and other health conditions during a 3-day evaluation period,
2) treat these diagnoses during a 3-week intensive outpatient program, and
3) continue to check in with the Veteran for up to 12 months following program completion. In its full capacity, the program will see approximately 150 Veterans per year and will provide a referral network and post-program follow-ups for as many as 400 Veterans and family members every year.

Summary

The Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor provides clinical mental health services as well as team-based care integrating medical and social aspects into patient care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Complete screenings, comprehensive assessments, and evaluations of patients to develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Provide crisis intervention, developing treatment plans and assisting in goal formulation with patients and parents/guardians.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy and counseling, consultation to parents or guardians, family therapy to enrollees/clients, and consultation to other professionals.
  • Advocate for clients, reporting suspected child abuse, neglect, and dependency to community agencies.
  • Document mental health information in medical records according to policies and state guidelines and record findings in a systematic and accurate form in the electronic medical record per guidelines and policies.

  • Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current North Carolina license to practice as a LPC/LCMHC.
  • Professional Experience Requirements: Requires two years of experience in a related clinical setting
