Join the distinguished UNC Neurology Movement Disorders Center as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). This role offers the opportunity to work alongside 6 movement disorder specialists and 2 other APPs, providing comprehensive outpatient care to a diverse patient population with movement disorders.
This includes individuals receiving innovative neuromodulation treatments like deep brain stimulation and focused ultrasound ablation. The Center's designation as a Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, CurePSP Center of Care, and Mission MSA Center of Excellence underscores its commitment to exceptional patient care, supported by an interdisciplinary team.
- Clinical - Obtains relevant health and medical history, performs physical assessments, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests/results, develops differential diagnoses, and implements treatment plans including prescribing/ordering evidence-based pharmacologic agents within privileging guidelines. Schedules follow-up care and contributes to preventive health screening and comprehensive patient documentation.
- Education - Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up; collaborates with clinicians, staff, and students; develops educational materials and provides education to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and students; pursues identified self-learning needs.
- Leadership - Provides instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and students; participates in community and network outreach programs; leads and participates in systems improvements to optimize health care delivery.
- Professional - Interacts with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely manner; collaborates with team members; responds to patient needs; takes responsibility for outcomes of one’s work and shares workload with the team.
- Quality/Research - Engages in daily quality improvement; leads interdisciplinary teams; develops or revises protocols to reflect evidence-based changes; contributes to policy discussion and develops new clinical programs or services to improve patient care.
Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements: Demonstrated clinical competency; effective leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills; ability to document in the medical record for accurate billing.
