MRI Technologist – Contract Assignment

UNC Health is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist for a 13-week contract assignment at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This opportunity is ideal for an MRI Tech who thrives in a high-quality academic medical environment and is confident working with advanced imaging technology.

The MRI Technologist will be responsible for providing safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging while ensuring patient comfort and accuracy throughout the imaging process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Verifying patient identity, medical history, and pregnancy status per protocol
• Educating patients and families and ensuring patient safety at all times
• Operating MRI scanners and related systems, including PACS, EMR (Epic), injectors, and image processing tools
• Selecting and interpreting imaging protocols and scanning parameters
• Administering oral and IV contrast to adult and pediatric patients following established safety guidelines
• Establishing IV access and verifying lab values prior to contrast administration
• Transferring, verifying, and segmenting images in PACS and EMR systems
• Ensuring accurate charge capture and documentation
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
• Assisting with troubleshooting equipment or protocol issues
• Supporting departmental workflow and participating in quality improvement efforts
• Precepting new employees and students as needed

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
• ARRT registration (or registry eligible with diploma provided)
• Advanced MRI certification required within one year of employment
• Current BLS (HCP) certification
• Ability to maintain registry and continuing education requirements
