PositionSummary
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly motivated faculty member to serve as an Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. This open‑rank position (tenure‑track, tenured, fixed‑term, or variable track) will provide leadership as Director of Bacteriology and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing for UNC Health Care. The incumbent will work closely with pediatric and adult infectious disease services, hospital epidemiology, infection control, and other clinical services, serving as a technical resource at the health care system level.
The faculty member will also be part of a CPEP‑accredited post‑doctoral fellowship in Medical and Public Health Microbiology and will actively participate in teaching medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows.
The candidate must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD and be board certified or board eligible in Medical Microbiology by either the American Board of Medical Microbiology or the American Board of Pathology.
Preferred Qualifications , Competencies, and ExperienceCandidates should have a demonstrated record of academic achievement through independent or collaborative research and scholarly publications.
