Overview

As a licensed or license‑eligible psychologist or social worker, the CAPS Therapist provides individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis intervention, outreach services, medication‑evaluation, and risk‑assessment for the Dean of Students office. The role also includes supervision of practicum students and interns, training, and active participation in campus committees related to counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, couples, and group therapy.
  • Conduct assessments and produce reports.
  • Supervise practicum students and interns.
  • Develop and deliver outreach programming.
  • Offer crisis intervention, including daytime, evening, and weekend on‑call services.
  • Consult with university community members and participate in campus counseling committees.
  • Engage in health education through one‑on‑one student interactions.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
  • Relevant professional degree (or foreign equivalent) and licensure in psychology, social work, or mental‑health practice in North Carolina.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience
  • Board eligibility for licensure by the North Carolina Board of Psychology or Social Work.
  • Board certification expected; newly graduated interns will have support to transition to certification.
  • Deep knowledge of current practices and standards within the field.
  • Commitment to quality mental‑health service delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate with professional and support staff for integrated services.
Preferred Qualifications , Competencies, and Experience
  • Experience working with traditional college‑aged students (18–25).
  • Prior university‑setting experience and familiarity with developmental processes during college years.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Availability for daytime, evening, and weekend on‑call services.
Work Hours

40 hours per week; full‑time permanent.
