North Carolina, US. Hiring Range: $35,813.70 - $43,772.00.
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs the technical tasks of many pharmacy-related functions, in accordance with local, state, and federal laws; professional and accreditation standards; and organizational policies and procedures. Pharmacy-related functions include greeting clients, entering prescription data into the QS/1 pharmacy computer system, preparing, packaging, and labeling prescribed medications for dispensing by the pharmacist, operating a cash register, and maintaining medication inventory for the pharmacy and patient care areas.

This position is eligible for a Sign-On Bonus of $2,000 to be paid in two installments:
- $1,000 within 30 days of hire date
- $1,000 12 months after hire date
Eligibility details:
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet state policy requirements. A newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours per week) employee is eligible for the sign-on bonus (pro-rated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week).
Additional eligibility notes:
An employee is not eligible if they have held a SHRA position in NC state government within the last 12 months; has previously received a sign-on bonus from any NC state agency or university; or UNC-CH has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. The sign-on bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility as of the hire date. Recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.

Completion of an accredited nine-month Pharmacy Technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
Required Qualifications , Competencies, And ExperienceCompletion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills; knowledge of electronic filing of insurance claims to third party insurance companies; proficient in using pharmacy computer software.
Preferred Qualifications , Competencies, And ExperienceExperience with QS/1 preferred; efficiency in a fast paced work environment; strong work ethic; highly effective time and project management skills; positive attitude; experience and knowledge in communicating and working with a college-age population (strong preference for those with experience in a college health environment).
Special Physical/Mental RequirementsThe work of the pharmacy technician requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or sitting; walking to on-site clinics; bending, crouching, stretching, reaching; use of step stools to retrieve supplies from high shelves; and occasional moving or lifting of moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds with or without accommodations).
