SummaryThe Resident Prosthetist/Orthotist is a health care professional gaining education and training to manage comprehensive orthotic and prosthetic patient care. This position assists Prosthetists/Orthotists in assessing patients, formulating treatment plans, implementing treatment plans, and following up with patients post‑treatment.
ResponsibilitiesConsults with practitioners to give patient maximum possible function and to determine materials from which the appliance will be fabricated. Fits braces and/or devices as necessary to keep workflow and patient safety a priority.
- Completion of a master's degree in orthotics and prosthetics from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited program or a foreign degree equivalent to a master's degree in orthotics and prosthetics evaluated by the World Education Service (WES) Credential.

- Knowledge and understanding of materials selection for orthotics and prosthetics.
- Technical skills required to measure, fit and customize orthotic and prosthetic devices.
