We are seeking a CFD Engineer with expertise in municipal and wastewater engineering to work as part of a multi-faceted team to expand and support our growing customer base using FLOW-3D HYDRO. This role focuses specifically on wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance systems, combined sewer overflows, and related municipal water infrastructure. The engineer will serve as a subject matter expert in these areas while also supporting the broader water and environmental applications of FLOW-3D HYDRO as needed.
PrincipalResponsibilities Subject Matter Expert
Be the subject matter expert in municipal/wastewater engineering and use expertise to identify areas of growth within this area to guide future developments.
Customer Technical SupportProvide high caliber support to customers throughout our range of W&E processes including diagnosing simulation issues, recommended best practices, and guidance toward optimal solutions for municipal systems and wastewater treatment facilities.
Training and EducationDeliver comprehensive training to customers through both online and in-person formats. Develop and present technical content that enables users to maximize the value of our CFD software, adapting your teaching approach to audiences with varying levels of expertise.
Customer DevelopmentConduct structured customer interviews to understand their technical needs, workflow challenges, and business objectives. Identify opportunities for product enhancement and potential growth areas that align with customer requirements.
Documentation and Content CreationWrite clear, accurate technical documentation including user guides, application notes, and best practice documents. Develop engaging training videos and tutorials that help users understand complex CFD concepts and software functionality.
Validation and TestingIdentify appropriate experimental or analytical results against which to test our software product for municipal/wastewater applications. Develop and document validations comparing to the experimental or analytical results. Test new software developments and features, providing feedback to the development team to ensure product quality and usability.
Conferences and MaterialsDevelop materials (conference presentations, papers, etc.) on municipal/wastewater systems and represent Flow Science at conferences.
Required Skills & Experience- M.S. or PhD in Civil/Environment Engineering or related engineering degree with emphasis on water/wastewater applications.
- 3+ years of experience in municipal/wastewater applications
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and open channel flow principles
- Hydraulic analysis of water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities
- Prior hydraulic modeling experience using 1D, 2D methods for municipal/wastewater applications
- Experience and expertise in
- Conventional or industry standard modeling techniques and software.
- Wastewater treatment processes, including activated sludge, aeration tank and contact tank.
- Conveyance facilities and systems.
- Combined sewer overflows.
- Transient (surge) analysis.
- Exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with 3D/CFD modeling
- Strong 3D CAD skills and GIS skills
