Sales Engineer – Water and Environmental Position Overview
Flow Science has an immediate opening for a technical Sales Engineer – Water and Environmental. The candidate will work in collaboration with our marketing, support, and development teams to drive market growth for the water treatment and conveyance application areas, through technical expertise and consultative selling. This role combines deep knowledge of CFD for hydraulic infrastructure with business development skills to build lasting customer relationships with governmental agencies, engineering consultants, and academic research institutions.

- Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, webinars and proof-of-concept projects showcasing FLOW-3D
HYDRO
’s capabilities for complex hydraulic and environmental applications - Perform technical sales consultations with prospective and existing users, understanding challenges in water/wastewater treatment, industrial water treatment, conveyance systems, oil & gas, environmental flows and coastal engineering.
- Provide advanced pre-sales technical consulting leveraging expertise in fluid mechanics, open channel hydraulics, and physical/chemical/biological processes
- Represent Flow Science at industry conferences and events, presenting technical papers and case studies
- Deliver and support trainings and workshops
- Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets through new business development and account expansion in water treatment, conveyance infrastructure, dams & spillways, rivers & environmental, and ports & coastal applications
- Manage full sales cycles from prospecting through contract closure, developing strategic account plans for consulting firms, municipalities, and government agencies
- Proactively manage assigned accounts to maximize customer satisfaction, retention, and recurring revenue through strategic engagement and renewal management
- Build and maintain relationships, from water resources engineers, municipal engineering departments, consulting firm principals, and key decision-makers
- Provide market growth leadership for water treatment and conveyance infrastructure application areas
- Develop close working relationships with users and industry partners, maintaining regular communication to identify expansion opportunities
- Participate and represent Flow Science in professional associations, technical committees, and industry organizations
- Provide market insights and customer feedback to guide product development priorities
- Collaborate with marketing to develop industry-specific content, case studies, value propositions and technical documentation
- Partner with support and development teams to address complex customer requirements
- Leverage CRM tools to effectively track and manage opportunities and deliver accurate forecasts
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic modeling as well as physical, chemical and biological processes in WWTP and the application of industry standard modeling and design approaches. The candidate will also have experience and a strong passion for CFD and developing its use as a design and analysis tool to advance the state of practice within the civil engineering industry.
Candidates should have exceptional oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- 4+ years of industry related work experience that includes water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, combined/sanitary sewer overflow, water transmission/distribution projects, and/or pump stations
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering degree
- A strong background in fluid mechanics, open channel hydraulics and physical, chemical and biological processes in WWTP.
- Experience and expertise in conventional or industry standard modeling techniques and software (Biowin, SUMO, SWMM, CAD, GIS, HEC-RAS, MIKE)
- Experience in applying and developing 3D CFD models
- Strong written and verbal skills for communicating critical concepts.
- Desire to learn and understand new and challenging concepts related to all W&E application areas and explain complex hydraulic concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to decision makers.
- Strong 3D CAD skills and GIS skills are also highly desired.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer is a plus.
- Experience working in dams, spillways, rivers, and open channel systems is a plus.
