Design Manager; Solar Industry

About the Role

Voltage LLC is seeking a Design Manager to lead a team of design engineers in creating innovative Electrical Balance of System (EBOS) solutions for utility‑scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, ensuring designs are efficient, manufacturable, and compliant with NEC standards (IEC, IEEE, and NETA knowledge preferred).

• Build and manage a high‑performing design engineering team (2–8 direct reports).
• Oversee EBOS design for PV harnesses, DC feeders, MV cables, and related components.
• Review and approve designs for accuracy, compliance, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Engineering, and Production teams to deliver optimized solutions.
• Drive value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement processes.

• Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
  • 5+ years in PV, electrical design, or EBOS engineering.
  • 2+ years in engineering leadership or supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and PV system design principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with PVsyst preferred.
• Ability to interpret plan sets, single‑line diagrams, and technical schematics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with manufacturing/production teams.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and NETA standards.
• Mandarin fluency (a plus, not required).
