This position will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the children on a weekly and daily basis. Incorporate into these plans any suggestions or goals for the child that are developed by any outside providers (Occupational, Speech, Physical Therapists, Horizon’s Child and Family Therapist, etc.). Comply with Policies and Regulations:
Meet all regulations of the NC Division of Child Development, Early Head Start and the policies and procedures of the childcare center on a daily basis. Comply with the administrative policies of the UNC Horizons Program and the childcare center. Provide supervision of and interaction with the children in care to maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. Contribute to the maintaining of the childcare center’s physical environment by discarding any broken or dangerous items and informing supervisor of any health/safety hazards of the center’s physical environment or of items that need to be replaced.

Establish and maintain effective communication with parents. Offer support, advice and encouragement to the parents regarding their child’s goals, accomplishments and overall well-being. Conduct parent/teacher conferences to review any adjustment, behavior, progress or other concerns.
