The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
This recruitment is for six (6) Agricultural/Hort Specialist. By applying, you will be considered for all six (6) positions.
This position(s) involve general golf course maintenance work; operating and maintaining as assigned landscaping equipment, including but not limited to turf mowing equipment, edger, weed-eaters, blowers, etc. Hand spraying and assisting in fertility applications. Selected candidates must report to work at required times and maintain a responsible attendance record and attention to detail is essential.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsGraduation from high school and some experience in horticultural work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special Licensure or Certification:
May require North Carolina Pesticide License;
North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License.
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated competencies necessary to perform the work on a public golf course. Requires NC Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications , Competencies, and ExperienceGeneral golf course maintenance experience. Must be able to lift/move 20lbs or greater and able to work in extreme weather conditions.
