Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, the dean of the Law School is the school’s Chief Academic Officer and provides academic, intellectual, and administrative leadership for the school.

Responsibilities
  • Advance the academic mission and vision of the Law School.
  • Enhance the strength and vitality of the school’s educational and scholarly mission by promoting the recruitment and retention of creative and distinguished faculty and by developing resources to support their teaching, research, and scholarly activities.
  • Lead recruitment and retention efforts to attract high‑caliber law and graduate students, providing them with a superior academic and professional experience.
  • Lead all administrative efforts, including development of the school’s budget, academic policy, curriculum development, and facilities management.
  • Enhance the financial stability and growth of the school, develop its economic resources, and implement effective development activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in fiscal and personnel matters to the school’s department, center, program administrators, and staff; supervise a staff of permanent and temporary employees.
  • Represent the school in advancing the university’s strategic objectives and in engagement with local, state, national, and international communities.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority, reporting Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and completing annual training on reporting responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Earned terminal degree.
  • Record of exceptional leadership success.
  • Evidence of scholarly, professional, or creative achievement.
  • Preferable: distinguished record of academic achievement and outstanding professional accomplishment.
  • Ability to think strategically and build effective institutional partnerships.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience, high standard of professional integrity, and strong team‑building skills.
  • Ability to articulate the school’s vision and mission to students, faculty, alumni, practitioners, external funding agencies, and other decision‑making bodies.
