Post-Doc Trainee – CIDD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders)

Position Summary

The Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD) is seeking postdoctoral fellows for its T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Program in Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the program trains fellows in both the biological basis and clinical manifestations of NDDs, including autism, fragile X syndrome, Angelman syndrome, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, tuberous sclerosis complex, schizophrenia, ADHD, and language disability.

Fellows will gain mentored research training, courses, seminars, lectures, and clinical experiences. The program is a two‑year training grant with the second year contingent on renewal.

Responsibilities
  • Engage in full‑time research training (≥40 hours per week) focused on NDD biology and clinical science.
  • Participate in integrated training across basic and behavioral research methods.
  • Attend courses, seminars, and lectures that cover clinical NDDs, developmental processes, disease mechanisms, and research methods.
  • Obtain clinical experiences that complement translational research opportunities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited institution before the start of the appointment. Eligible degrees include… (list truncated for brevity).

Required Qualifications and Competencies
  • Full‑time commitment of at least 40 hours per week to the training program.
  • For clinical trainees, hours must be focused on the proposed research training with any clinical duties contributing directly to research outcomes.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. non‑citizen national, or lawful permanent resident (green card).
  • Eligibility for NIH NRSA/T32 funding.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.D. (including physicians in residency training).
