The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology comprises 10 faculty and 4 advanced nurse practitioners, with a multidisciplinary team that includes 2 psychologists, a dietitian, and a pediatric pain specialist. The division collaborates with UNC Center for Functional GI and Motility Disorders. The hospital serves more than 70,000 children annually across all 100 North Carolina counties, with a high-volume Pediatric ICU, NICU, and inpatient services supporting a broad pediatric mission.
PositionSummary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks 1 Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatric Gastroenterologist to join the division. The position is a variable track at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, three-year fixed term renewable. The candidate should have a strong interest in disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBIs or functional GI disorders) and completed pediatric GI subspecialty training. The selected candidate will grow a clinical program in pediatric DGBIs while advancing research, education, and advocacy missions.
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and work collaboratively with the UNC Center for Functional GI and Motility Disorders. Strong clinical and endoscopic skills are required with demonstrated excellence in clinical care and teaching.
Minimum education and experience:
Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Completion of pediatric GI subspecialty training. Strong clinical and endoscopic skills.

Responsibilities- Provide clinical care in pediatric gastroenterology with emphasis on disorders of gut-brain interaction.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows, and allied health staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to research and quality improvement efforts.
- Engage in program development for pediatric DGBIs, education, and advocacy initiatives.
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology; completed subspecialty training.
- Strong endoscopic and clinical skills.
- Excellent teaching and clinical care with potential interest in pediatric DGBIs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
