Position Summary The Department of Surgery at The University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a board eligible/board certified full-time academic cardiac surgeon to join our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. This academic appointment is Open Rank and may be fixed term, tenure/tenure track and/or variable track. Rank and track will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience. The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery includes 10 faculty members across three sections: adult cardiac surgery, congenital cardiac surgery, and thoracic surgery.

The faculty in the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery provide a broad array of clinical services including adult cardiac surgery, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

• Surgical management of heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, aortic and coronary artery surgery, and surgical/transcatheter management of valvular disease.
• Teach residents and students and conduct research commensurate with academic rank.
• Demonstrate commitment to the educational mission and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.
• Applicants with complementary skills in clinical outcomes, quality and safety, health services, education, ethics, informatics, or clinical expertise in heart failure, transplant, or minimally invasive approaches are encouraged to apply.

• Minimum
  
  Education and Experience:
  
  MD, Board Certified or Board Eligible Cardiac Surgeon. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an academic surgeon is required.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  Team-oriented with ability to interact well with colleagues inside and outside the Division.
