The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is inviting applications for a full-time academic podiatrist to assume the role of Podiatry Section Chief within our Division of Vascular Surgery. As one of nine clinical divisions in the Department, the Division of Vascular Surgery is comprised of 12 faculty members who deliver comprehensive clinical services to provide exemplary care for patients with lower extremity wounds and podiatric needs.
This position is offered as an Open Rank, Open Track Academic appointment (0.5 FTE to 1.0 FTE), with rank and track determined by the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The Section Chief will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and administrative direction for the Podiatry Section. This leadership role integrates patient care with administrative responsibilities, promoting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based podiatric care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including vascular surgery, orthopedics, wound care, endocrinology, infectious disease, and primary care to optimize outcomes for patients with complex foot and ankle disorders, diabetic limb salvage needs, and wound care challenges.
Faculty in the Division are expected to embrace all three missions of the department and school of medicine: clinical care, education, and research. We operate as a multidisciplinary practice dedicated to limb preservation, employing the Toe and Flow model of care.
