PositionSummary
The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (GPAM) at the University of North Carolina is recruiting a BC/BE child abuse pediatrician to join the Child Maltreatment Section. This individual will help grow the inpatient and outpatient child maltreatment clinical program and participate in resident and medical student education. Other clinical opportunities may be incorporated based on the candidate’s interests. Depending on experience, additional duties may include a leadership role within a component of the Child Maltreatment Section.
This recruitment is for an Open rank, fixed term, 0.5 to 1.0 FTE Academic appointment offered commensurate with experience.
The Child Maltreatment Section currently includes two board certified child abuse pediatricians, three generalist pediatricians, one nurse practitioner and two social workers. The division has innovative programs in clinical care and advocacy, an active research portfolio, and a strong emphasis on education locally and in a statewide program that assures the quality of evaluations done through the state.
The GPAM division is one of the largest in the Department of Pediatrics and includes child maltreatment, outpatient care, adolescent medicine and other affiliated specialty services. Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is an attractive place to live and work with good climate, schools, and access to mountains and beaches within a day’s drive. Responsibilities- Provide clinical care for inpatient and outpatient child maltreatment patients.
- Grow and maintain the clinical program in collaboration with the division and affiliated services.
- Contribute to resident and medical student education.
- Participate in leadership activities within the Child Maltreatment Section as appropriate to experience.
- Engage in scholarly activities and program development in line with the division’s goals.
- Board certified or eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics.
- Fellowship or equivalent post-residency training.
- Clinical interest in education and interdisciplinary collaboration is desirable.
