Overview
We are a civil/commercial General Contractor based in Chapel Hill, NC, working throughout the southeast US. The Commercial/Civil Construction Project Superintendent oversees and manages all aspects of construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role involves supervising on-site activities, coordinating subcontractors and workers, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Must be willing to travel within the Southeastern US. All travel expenses (hotel, per diem, etc.) paid by the company.
- Oversee daily on-site operations to ensure adherence to project plans and schedules.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and contracts to understand project scope and requirements.
- Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, materials, and equipment deliveries.
- Direct and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Foster clear communication between project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct daily site meetings to ensure alignment on project objectives and schedules.
- Inspect work progress and completed phases to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Enforce compliance with local, state, and federal construction regulations and safety standards.
- Identify and address potential issues to avoid delays or quality concerns.
- Ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections and toolbox talks regularly.
- Investigate and report on-site accidents or incidents promptly.
- Monitor and manage on-site inventory of materials and tools.
- Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient use of labor and materials.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to manage supply chain logistics.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and change orders.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Assist with project close-out processes, including punch lists and as-built documentation.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil construction. Proven experience managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.
Technical Skills- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Plan Grid).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and contracts.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Primarily on-site at construction locations with potential exposure to outdoor conditions. May require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on project schedules.
