Position Summary
The University Libraries is seeking a Facilities Assistant to join our facilities team in the UNC Chapel Hill University Libraries. Supervised by and working together with the Library Facilities Manager and temporary Library Facilities Coordinator, this position will work to integrate people, places, technology, and processes within the built environment, with the purpose of supporting and improving the quality of work life of people and the productivity of the core business.
This position will proactively identify and correct facility and maintenance needs of the Library building facilities and work spaces, and will:
- Assist with the daily maintenance of all library facilities
- Serve as backup to Library Facilities Coordinator
- Develop documentation for Facilities and Administrative Services departments
- Assist with developing routine maintenance schedules
- Initiate library furniture inventory
- Contribute to project tracking and project management tools
- Support facilities project review and implementation
- Moves/constructs/breaks down furniture using Library tools, and supports staff moves
- Performs daily walkthroughs of buildings to scan for facilities needs; repairs include housekeeping and plumbing problems, broken door locks,…
