Primary Purpose of Organizational UnitAuxiliary Services provides a variety of services and products in a convenient and customer-oriented manner to enhance the quality of campus life for student, faculty, staff, and visitors. The primary purpose of the Department is to provide mailing services to the University Campus Departments, Faculty and Staff. University Mail Services picks up, sorts and delivers to the entire campus as well as to several off-campus locations.
United States Postal Service Mail daily. UNC Mail Services also processes (applies postage) to outgoing mail for the university campus departments, faculty, and staff daily.
University Mail Services supports a consolidated mailing operation for campus departments to include: sorting and delivery of all USPS mail, parcels and accountable pieces, pickup and delivery of 190 buildings, supporting 560 delivery point locations (twice daily), distribution of internal campus documents and processing all outbound USPS mail in a centralized processing facility.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency.
Management PreferencesSuccessful candidate will have a majority of the following: a background in performing delivery or materials on an assigned route with customer interaction, knowledge of United States Post Office policies and procedures, proven history of working in a successful team environment; ability to work without close supervision, excellent driving record supplemented with a defensive driving course.
Required Licenses/CertificationsValid NC Driver’s License
Special Physical/Mental RequirementsAbility to lift/move objects weighing up to 30 pounds, maneuver postal carts weighing up to 200 pounds, and the ability to drive a 12 foot box truck.
