Summary

The Maintenance Planner plans and coordinates maintenance activities conducted at the plant. This position maintains plant assets with a proactive maintenance philosophy to achieve plant production, cost, quality, safety, and environmental goals. The position schedules maintenance jobs to maximize plant and equipment efficiency and minimize downtime. The Maintenance Planner provides indirect supervision over maintenance crew members and direct supervision over specific contractors.

This position must be available for infrequent evening and weekend work.

What You’ll Be Contributing
  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing the budget for capital expenditures planned for maintenance projects and repairs.
  • Determine labor requirements for specific jobs and job planning.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Job Plans.
  • Maintain work history of all plant equipment and keep a complete and updated list of plant equipment.
  • Coordinate, write, and review regularly SOPs and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) related to the department monthly.
  • Conduct, review, and report S.A.F.E observations and scheduled area inspections.
  • Participate in and lead morning and afternoon scheduling meetings. Work with mechanical supervisors and assist with daily scheduling.
  • Establish a positive role model for plant safety, health, and environmental issues and assert “safety and environmental leadership” in all aspects of each daily routine.
  • Participate in the plant Maintenance Excellence Program (MEP) team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To Succeed In This Position, You Will Need
  • Minimum of a Vocational/Technical degree in a related area. In lieu of degree/diploma, an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance role in cement or industrial plant (preferred).
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion.
  • Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge in the area of specialty.
  • Ability to utilize independent judgment in performing responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair required by plant equipment and structures.
  • Knowledge of government regulations such as EPA and MSHA as they relate to maintenance and repair projects.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
