Overview

This role involves the design, development, testing, and management of application development projects in support of IT infrastructure. The position requires integrating third‑party components, introducing new capabilities, modifying existing code, and automating operations and maintenance tasks. The candidate will participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle, providing technical expertise across multiple projects and potentially supervising others.

A bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering.

This position is located on‑site at a government site in Chantilly.

• Design and develop application solutions aligned with project requirements.
• Test and troubleshoot software to ensure functionality and performance.
• Manage and coordinate technical aspects of large‑scale data processing and advanced analytics projects.
• Integrate third‑party components and develop custom capabilities to enhance application features.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including planning, requirements analysis, and quality assurance.
• Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and resource estimations.
• Advise on best practices for development, code architecture, and process improvements.
• Support project milestones and contribute to knowledge transfer initiatives.

• At least 8 years of experience in software development, specifically in Python.
• Strong knowledge of software design, development, and testing methodologies.
• Experience with application development in a government or high‑security environment.
• Familiarity with integrating third‑party systems and automating operational tasks.
• Proven ability to evaluate performance and recommend strategic technical modifications.
• Experience with large‑scale data processing and advanced analytics is preferred.

• Proficiency in Java is advantageous.
• Experience working on TS/SCI cleared projects.
• Ability to lead technical teams and supervise other engineers.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies.
