Position Overview Launch Code is seeking seeking a Senior Automation Architect with deep Ansible expertise and strong Linux systems engineering experience to support a mission-critical federal program operating in a highly secure environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on secure system operations, automation engineering, and infrastructure stability. The ideal candidate is passionate about infrastructure as code, security best practices, and building reliable, repeatable automation frameworks that enhance operational efficiency.
This role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted technical contributor with increasing architectural influence over time.
Key Responsibilities
* Own, administer, and sustain Linux-based systems within a secure operational environment
* Architect, develop, and maintain Ansible automation frameworks to support infrastructure operations
* Review, optimize, and refactor existing Ansible playbooks and roles (including legacy implementations)
* Design automation solutions to eliminate manual processes and improve system consistency
* Apply and maintain STIGs and RMF controls in accordance with federal compliance requirements
* Perform daily Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities to ensure system availability, security, and performance
* Support Oracle Web Logic application environments and associated database systems in coordination with DBA and web engineering teams
* Maintain and support AWS-hosted infrastructure, primarily EC2-based workloads
* Contribute to documentation, configuration baselines, and change management processes Requirements
* Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
* STEM or technical degree (or equivalent technical experience)
* Strong hands-on Linux system administration experience
* Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining Ansible automation
* Experience implementing security hardening practices, including STIG and RMF compliance
* Prior experience supporting systems in classified or secure federal environments
* Ability to work onsite daily in Chantilly or Quantico, VA
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting Oracle Web Logic environments
* Familiarity with Oracle databases
* Experience working in AWS environments, particularly EC2
* Prior experience supporting large-scale federal or Intelligence Community programs
* Experience operating in environments requiring strict change control and audit compliance
