Position Summary

The Epic Security Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security, provisioning, and identity governance across the Epic EHR and integrated enterprise systems. This role combines Epic security build expertise (EMP/DEP templates, SER/ECL, role management) with enterprise Identity & Access Management (IAM) capabilities. The analyst will work closely with clinical and business stakeholders, application teams, cybersecurity, and IAM engineers to ensure appropriate, compliant, and efficient access for providers, staff, and third‑party users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Epic Security & Provisioning
    • Configure and maintain Epic EMP and DEP records, security classes, roles, and user templates.
    • Manage Epic user provisioning, de‑provisioning, and identity lifecycle workflows for clinical, revenue cycle, and operational users.
    • Build and maintain provider profiles (SER) and perform provider onboarding/offboarding.
    • Perform proactive security audits, access reviews, and compliance monitoring (including SOX, HIPAA, and internal controls).
    • Collaborate with Epic application teams to align security design with workflows, best practices, and organizational standards.
    • Troubleshoot access issues, security conflicts, and role inconsistencies.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
    • Support enterprise IAM processes, including role‑based access control (RBAC), least‑privilege governance, and privileged access workflows.
    • Integrate Epic user access requests and approvals into IAM platforms.
    • Participate in IAM roadmap initiatives related to automation, access governance, and optimization.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Work with HRIS, IT Security, IAM, and clinical leadership to maintain accurate identity data and enforce security policies.
    • Partner with compliance and audit teams to support risk mitigation and regulatory reporting.
    • Participate in on‑call rotation for access‑related issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Epic EMP and SCR (Security Coordinator) certification required.
    • 3+ years of Epic security build experience (security classes, roles, EMP/DEP templates).
    • Solid understanding of IAM concepts: RBAC, SOD, provisioning automation, authentication/authorization.
    • Strong understanding of HIPAA, SOX, and healthcare security standards.
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Preferred
    • Experience supporting large healthcare systems or multi‑facility environments.
    • Knowledge of EPCS, audit logging, and identity management for clinical systems.
  • Soft Skills
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to secure access practices.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
