Associate Medical Director - Chantilly, VAThe Associate Medical Director is responsible, as assigned/delegated by the Laboratory Director/Regional Medical Director, for ensuring that the medical and operational quality of the clinical laboratory meets or exceeds customer/patient requirements. Additionally, serve as a liaison between Esoteric Operations and related lines of business, including the Clinical Franchises, Research & Development and Pharma Services.
Responsibilities- Honors requests for consultations from clinicians regarding the appropriateness and interpretation of laboratory tests.
- Provides inputs for new research developments in the appropriate fields of expertise; makes recommendations on tests to develop consistent with the clinical franchises and the R&D departments.
- Provides educational programs for the medical and laboratory staff and participates in educational programs of the Company.
- Assumes Clinical Consultant or Technical Supervisor responsibilities in specialty as delegated by the Laboratory Director Responsibilities Policy.
- Collaborates in reviewing test method selection and validation, ensuring proficiency testing, monitoring quality control, managing non-conformance, and participating in job assignments, performance reviews, SOP reviews, and report formatting.
- Member of appropriate Subspecialty Team(s); attends meetings and participates in scientific, business, and policy decisions impacting testing services.
- Interacts with academic associates and internal/external clients to develop new strategies and testing methods; works with Sales to provide medical scientific support.
- Attends national meetings in areas of expertise to maintain/build knowledge and represent Quest Diagnostics/Nichols Institute.
- Pathologists/physicians must demonstrate competence; board certification required, sub-specialty certification may be important.
- At least 2 years of experience supervising high complexity testing in inpatient/outpatient laboratory settings.
- Experience in laboratory management, administration, finance, medical sociology, marketing or HR.
- Professionalism consistent with Quest Diagnostics/Nichols Institute values.
- M.D. licensure or eligibility to obtain it in the state where the laboratory resides.
- Board Certified and state licensure as required by sub-specialty or specialty.
- NYSDOH requirements:
Certificate of Qualification in required category(ies) if applicable. - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
