The Role
Shape the Future of Aviation with Peraton: join us in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management.
Work LocationThis position will work on site in the DC Metro area. Once operations are fully established, we may consider telework options; these are not guaranteed.
In this position, you will:- Develop and implement safety engineering processes for telecom systems and facilities.
- Conduct system safety assessments and compliance evaluations.
- Support incident investigations and corrective action planning.
- Conduct hazard analyses, ensure compliance, and support incident investigations.
- Develop and maintain System Safety Plans (SSPs) and safety documentation aligned with federal standards.
- Conduct and oversee safety compliance audits and readiness reviews.
- Advise program leadership on safety risks, mitigation strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, systemic risks, and opportunities for risk reduction.
- Support incident investigations, corrective action planning, and risk closure verification.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and compliance teams to embed safety into modernization initiatives.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must have the ability to obtain or maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or Associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or HS diploma/equivalent and 9 years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in safety engineering within telecommunications, infrastructure, or safety-critical environments.
- Proven ability to conduct hazard analyses, safety audits, and compliance assessments.
- Experience developing and managing multi‑site safety programs.
- Strong understanding of safety engineering principles and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with risk management methodologies and structured hazard analysis techniques.
- Experience interpreting operational data and producing safety performance metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional safety initiatives.
- Familiarity with National Airspace System (NAS) architecture and modernization initiatives (e.g., Next Gen).
- Certifications:
CHST or CSP preferred. - Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
- Strong ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
- Proven experience designing efficient workflows.
- Expertise in managing and optimizing processes for compliance and performance.
Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. Salary is determined by various factors, including scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
