The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space-enabled mission effects.
The Surveillance and Navigation Architecture Performance Department (SNAPD) in the Integrated Performance Subdivision aspires to be the premier force advising the evolution of national security and civil space enterprises, leveraging our modeling and simulation (M&S) expertise to evaluate architecture performance. SNAPD supports our customers in requirements definition/verification, analyses-of-alternatives (AoA), and end-to-end performance evaluations of customer space-based architectures across various mission areas.
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team applying advanced M&S capabilities across select critical mission areas, including geospatial intelligence, signals intelligence, space surveillance, positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) systems, and space protection to support defense, intelligence, and civil space capabilities.
This full-time position requires 100% onsite work in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, or Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing- Develop and articulate a strategic vision for your mission area and cultivate business development across multidisciplinary tool portfolios.
- Build and lead teams of analysts. Provide project leadership by coordinating complex technical tasks among team members, translating customer needs into tasks for analysts and developers, and reviewing work products for quality and accuracy.
- Manage the team through effective workload management, performance management, staff engagement, and coordination of departmental logistics.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, mentoring efforts to build a highly skilled team for the organization.
- Mentor and coach team members to support their technical, leadership, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other subdivision departments to enhance career growth opportunities and extend bench depth.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with customers to foster solutions for both existing and new challenges.
- Guide the development of state‑of‑the‑art modeling and simulation capabilities through strategic planning and resource management.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with demonstrated experience in aerospace, astronautical, or electrical engineering, computer science, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in SNAPD functional areas that may include demonstrated experience leading analysis teams, coordinating complex technical tasks among team members, and/or translating customer needs into viable instructions for analysts.
- Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to balance multiple priorities and maintain schedules while fostering productive work relationships.
- Proficiency with one or more software languages that may include Python, C++, or MATLAB.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically, less than 10% time.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance, issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
