Senior Water Resources Engineer

Founded in 1975, GKY & Associates, Inc. (GKY) is an established water resources engineering, policy & planning, and environmental services consulting firm in Virginia. We are currently seeking to add a Water Resources Engineer to our growing practice in the water resources arena. This position will be based in GKY's Chantilly, Virginia office or Newport News, Virginia office.

The Opportunity:

The successful applicant will manage and perform the engineering duties required for water resources projects. The position includes "doing" as well as "managing", and most of our projects support municipal clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, the successful applicant will assist in strategic planning and growth initiatives for our Newport News office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Manage water resources projects

* Develop and maintain client relationships

* Assist in strategic planning for Newport News office and integration with other offices

* Prepare proposals

* Mentor engineering staff

Required

Skills & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with course work in water resources (including hydrology and hydraulics)

* Licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia

* 8+ years of professional experience in performing and managing water resources projects

* Experience with contract and task order management

* Experience with client service management

* Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design

* Experience working with Hampton Roads municipalities is preferred

* Experience with mapping and data analysis using ArcGIS is preferred

* Experience in mentoring junior engineering staff is preferred

* Must have a valid driver's license, ability to pass a DMV record check, and be insurable

* Must be dependable, responsible, and have good communications skills

* Must be authorized to work in the United States
