The Systems Engineering Manager 1 will support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing program activities across various active projects / programs. The work is unique, challenging and rewarding. Most of all, it is work that makes a difference. The functional manager will lead a team working within the Chantilly E &S department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees to accomplish organizational goals, deliver program results, and align with company policies.
- Coordinate staffing, recruiting, training, performance reviews, promotions, salaries, compensation, performance goals, and career guidance for employees.
- Periodically review, update, and define technical process documents.
- Provide system engineering technical support: IPT leadership and other appropriate technical functions (≈80% technical, 20% functional).
- Support infrastructure & software life‑cycle engineering execution: system design, development, test/integration, deployment/sustainment.
- Accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments/roadblock resolution, and overall engineering/product quality execution.
- Partner with the program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resource targets.
- Provide technical leadership to the execution team to ensure best practices and applicable engineering processes are implemented.
- Support sustainable continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world‑class execution teams.
- US citizen per program requirements.
- Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility; willingness to maintain and upgrade clearance if requested.
- 5 years experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years experience with a Master’s Degree; or PhD with 1 year experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
