Job Summary

Bongards' Creameries is seeking an EHS Manager at our facility in Norwood, MN. The EHS Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating the safety program to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries. In addition, the role is responsible for compliance and reporting for federal, state, and local regulations on air, water, and waste disposal.

Job Duties
  • Develops, conducts, and oversees safety awareness training program for employees.
  • Implements safety and environmental policies and procedures to comply with corporate, state and federal regulations.
  • Conducts monthly safety and ergonomic inspections of facility and follows up on recommended improvements.
  • Prepares and coordinates emergency planning for fire, severe weather, hazardous material spills, etc.
  • Monitors and verifies environmental permits and fees required by the regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains files, documentation, and submits reports for required permits such as Air Quality, Hazardous Waste, EPA, Workers Compensation, MPCA, PSM, OSHA and MNOSHA.
  • Coordinates Workers Compensation in conjunction with the return to work policy, employee's return to work with supervisor, employee and Human Resources.
  • Coordinates activities related to OSHA, MNOSHA and insurance carrier inspections.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local safety and environmental laws including accident prevention, and recommends safety and environmental improvements.
  • Operates and manages the water and wastewater treatment facility including ordering, application and inventory of chemicals. Currently has or can obtain a Class D wastewater operator license and Class E water operator license.
  • Manages and trains employees to meet all PSM/RMP requirements for ammonia according to state and federal statutes.
  • Manages the plant hazardous waste storage and disposal needs including proper labeling, marking and inspection requirements. Arranges the proper shipping of waste off-site.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents, injuries and close calls and cooperates in the evidence collection or organizations if hearings are necessary.
  • Prepares Job-Safety analysis to identify safety hazards or potential safety conditions.
  • Coordinates monthly safety meetings and assists supervisors and managers with monthly reporting.
  • Collects, tests and prepares wastewater and water samples for further testing to our facility lab and an outside independent lab.
  • Conducts new employee safety orientation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Water/Wastewater Operators license and Hazardous Waste Training Certification for VSQG.
  • Knowledge of applicable MPCA, OSHA and MNOSHA regulations.
  • Minimum 2 years related experience in wastewater and safety.
  • Educational background in chemistry and biology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication.
  • Study and stay abreast of all changes in local, state and federal programs and regulations.
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
